Lerín, Navarre, 2021

Lerín is a small town in northern Spain where the population reflects a wider world — communities from Morocco, Ecuador, Bulgaria and beyond living alongside each other on a hill surrounded by agricultural land.

Werckmeister led a participatory workshop promoted by the City Council. The mural captures this diversity within one enormous still life — every object and idea contributed by the participants themselves.

Part of the mural was painted on Polytab and then adhered to the wall, which allowed the group to paint most of it themselves, fostering a sense of ownership that stays with the community long after the scaffolding comes down.
